Application Guidelines: 2) Japan Academy of Nursing Science Research Grants for Designated Topics for regular members (excluding graduate students and postdoctoral fellows)
Eligibility for Application
Members who have paid dues for at least three years, including the year of grant application, and who are not graduate students or postdoctoral fellows
research task
This is strategic academic research to be presented each fiscal year and designates a specific research topic to be addressed by the Society. However, the applicant must not have received other research funding for the same research topic at the time of application.
The research topics to be solicited this time are as follows (Research for FY2025)

- Interdisciplinary and cross-border research
- Research contributing to the development of nursing techniques and functions
- Research to Address Global Health Challenges
- Outcome research and research to promote Evidence Based Practice
- Research on health care delivery systems
For the time being, we plan to conduct this grant on the above-mentioned research topics.
criterion (criteria) for selection
- Academic importance of the research topic (significance, originality)
- Appropriateness of research methods (research methods, etc., are specific and appropriate to achieve the research objectives, and research expenses are consistent with the research plan).
- Contribution to the relevant discipline (potential for future development)
Criteria for adoption
After the "Research Grant Selection Committee" selects the applications received within the application period from those who meet the eligibility requirements, the Board of Directors will make a decision through deliberation.
Hearings may be held upon adoption.
*They will not be able to respond to questions regarding the screening process.

September 6, 2024 - October 31, 2024
Applications must be submitted using the online form. No applications by mail or fax will be accepted.
Grant details, application conditions, grant amount, etc.
(1) Application Requirements
1) Regular members (must have paid membership fees for at least three years, including the year of grant application), other than graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
(2) The principal investigator of the grant
(iii) Those who have not been adopted for this grant (designated subject research grant for regular members (excluding graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) to conduct research)
(iv) Applicants who are not currently applying for or have been accepted for other grants from the Society (Note 2).
(5) Residents in Japan
Note 2: The term "in the process of adoption" includes the fiscal year in question and until the end of the presentation at the Society's annual meeting for which reporting is required.

1 million yen per case

(2) When the support is not expected to be effective
(3) Other cases in which it is judged that the grant is not appropriate.
Notes on Application
- Please be careful not to enter incomplete information in each field of the application.
- Please be as specific and clear as possible, within the prescribed number of characters.

The implementation plan should include the following information in an easy-to-understand manner: objectives (within 200 characters), current status and issues (within 400 characters), methods (within 800 characters), expected results (within 400 characters), and ethical considerations (within 200 characters).
- Enter the amount of money to be used for this project in the [Eligible Expenses] field. Enter a specific breakdown of the amount, such as airfare (¥0.00 x round trip).
If the expense item is unknown, enter it in the available line.
Statement of Eligible Expenses - Applicants must apply with all required documents.
- Enter the maximum amount that applies to the contents of the grant application. If the amount required is less than the maximum amount, enter the amount required.
- If the total eligible expenses are less than the grant amount, the difference will be refunded.
Subsidy period
In principle, grant applications that are implemented during the relevant project period (April 1 to March 31 of the following year) will be considered.

Notification of Adoption and Grant Request Procedures
A separate invoice will be sent to those selected as grant recipients.
The grantee must submit an invoice promptly after receiving notification of selection.
The amount of the grant may not match the amount of the application.
Reporting Obligations
- A completion report must be submitted via the online form. (If the plan is implemented near the end of the fiscal year, you may be asked to settle within a few days.)
- The results obtained through the research grant will be presented in an oral presentation at the research grant session of the annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Nursing Science to be held within two years from the date of completion of the grant (submission of the completion report). When publishing the results obtained through this grant program, the applicant should indicate so in the acknowledgements.
Description of the Completion Report
- Submit a completion report via the designated online form.
- Enter the amount received from the Japan Academy of Nursing Science in the [Grant amount] field.
- Please be as specific and clear as possible in your description of the project and the results.
- In the "Details" column, enter the details of each expense item used for each receipt, and in the "Amount" column, enter the total amount spent for each expense item.
Each receipt must be numbered and pasted on an A4 sheet of paper and submitted online.
If you have received grants from schools, other organizations, or other institutions for this project, enter the number in the "Grants from other organizations (if any)" column.
*Please note that if the total eligible expenses are less than the grant amount as stated in [Notes on Application], the difference will be refunded.

Cancellation of the grant
If a grant recipient falls under any one of the following categories, the JNCSN may require the grant recipient to return all or part of the grant.
- Those whose accounting status is recognized as extremely poor.
- Those deemed to be inconvenient from an accounting standpoint.
- The plan is partially suspended or discontinued after the grant decision is made.
- The grant funds are used for purposes other than the designated plan.
- When a false application or use report is made.
- Other cases deemed inappropriate by the Japanese Society of Nursing Science.
