Membership Eligibility Criteria
Article 1.
In accordance with Articles 10, 10-2 and 11 of the Articles of Incorporation of the Japanese Society of Nursing Science, the selection of members by the Board of Directors of the Society shall be based on these criteria.
Article 2.
Selection for active members of the Society shall be made for those who meet one of the following criteria and who meet the performance standards set forth in Article 5.
(1) Those who major in nursing and are engaged in education and research at universities (including junior colleges) and research institutes.
(2) Those who practice nursing and have achievements in nursing science.
(3) Those with research achievements related to nursing science
Article 3.
Selection for student members of the Society shall be made for those who meet all of the following criteria
(1) Students enrolled in a basic nursing education program or a graduate school (master's or master's program, or doctoral program) in a major related to nursing science
(2) Must be introduced by one regular member.
Article 4.
Selection for Supporting Members of the Society shall be made by individuals or organizations contributing to the field of nursing and health and welfare.
Article 5.
The research achievements required for admission as a regular member of the Society shall satisfy one of the following conditions
(1) At least one article published in an academic journal related to nursing science (the title of the article, the name and volume and page number of the journal, the date of publication, and the names of collaborators including the applicant should be clearly indicated)
(2) At least one book related to nursing science (clearly indicate the part of the book you are responsible for)
(3) Master's thesis or doctoral dissertation related to nursing science, or research on a specific theme in lieu of a master's thesis
(4) At least one research presentation at an academic conference or other conference related to nursing science (the title of the presentation, the name of the conference, the page of the abstract in the journal, the year and month of the presentation, and the names of co-researchers including the applicant should be clearly indicated). However, if the abstract submitted to the Society's annual meeting is accepted, this presentation will be counted as one presentation.
Article 6.
Amendments to these standards shall be made by resolution of the General Meeting of Members in accordance with Article 13 of the Articles of Incorporation.

1 The amendments to these standards shall come into effect on January 1, 2010.
2 The provision of "Conditions of Research Achievement at the time of Admission to the Japan Academy of Nursing Science" shall be abolished on December 31, 2009 due to the revision of this standard.

Partially amended on June 15, 2024, effective as of the same date. However, Article 1, Article 3, and other changes due to the establishment of new qualifications for student members shall come into effect on January 1, 2025.
