(1) physiological needs (the need for food, water, air, sex, etc. necessary for survival), (2) need for safety (the need to feel safe and protected from danger), (3) need for belonging and love (the need to have a place to belong and be loved), (4) need for approval (the need to be recognized and valued by others), and (5)self-realizationThe first is the desire to be oneself (desire to be oneself). The needs (1) to (4) are called deficiency needs, and when these needs are not satisfied, the need (5), which leads to growth, cannot be satisfied.self-realizationThe first two are called "growth needs.
