Active listening, as Carl Rogers (C.Rogers) calls it, is a way of listening and a listening attitude. It is a way of listening that does not respond to the words of the other person, but rather responds appropriately to the feelings of the other person. In other words, it is not a way of listening to instruct, evaluate, or try to convince the other person of one's own opinion, but a way of listening that tries to understand the meaning expressed in the words themselves and the feelings hidden behind the words in a holistic manner.
