What is spirituality?human beingIt is an expression of the dignity and meaning of existence of a person, and relates to how a person perceives and lives his or her meaning, value, and beliefs. It is sometimes translated as spirituality, soul, or spirituality.
Spirituality is often expressed or experienced in connection with faith or religion, but it is not limited to these alone. Spirituality is present in all people, a transcendent being or deity, deathIt arises from the connection felt between the person and what he or she values as supreme or important, such as nature, ancestors, karma, and truth. This sense of connection can be experienced intrapersonally (within oneself), interpersonally (with others or in nature, society, or culture), and transpersonally (with the unseen, God, the heavens, or a higher power). Through these experiences, the meaning and reason for existence may be found as love, belief, hope, trust, faith, revelation, and awe arise.
Spirituality may be expressed as inner peace and strength. Also related is spiritual pain (loss(deep pain, anguish, and loneliness of the soul arising from a sense of inadequacy, a sense of divergence from one's own beliefs and hopes, a sense of being separated from God, guilt, repentance, etc.).
The nursing profession respects the values and practices that the person values and helps the individual's spiritual needs to be met.
